Wine Trail

Three major wine-producing regions, a capital city, rural towns, and coastal waterways combine to create the Classic New Zealand Wine Trail. The multi-day touring route is self-guided. Follow the grape signs and savor this unforgettable food and wine journey.

The Classic New Zealand Wine Trail takes you through four key regions that account for over 80% of New Zealand's wine production. Combining stunning scenery with indulgent food and wine experiences, it is a must-do on any New Zealand itinerary.

Sip wine from more than 230 wineries and over 120 cellar doors. Hawke’s Bay is renowned for its robust cabernet sauvignon and merlot. In Wairarapa, pinot noir takes star billing. Over Remutaka Hill, New Zealand's capital city Wellington brings everything together on a plate. End your journey by sailing across the picturesque Cook Strait to Marlborough, the land of blockbuster sauvignon blanc.

While the main focus of the journey is wine and food, the route also offers a variety of adventure and cultural experiences. Encounter unique wildlife, discover historic villages, enjoy the magic of live theatre, and much more.
